QNS Listserv Rules

Participation on the QNS Listserv is a privilege of QNS membership that is meant to facilitate communication, education, and collaboration in accordance with the QNS Mission Statement and Strategic Plan.  For the Listserv to host meaningful and productive conversations, its members must adhere to standards that promote respectful interactions.  By using our e-mail list, you agree that you have read and will follow the following rules and guidelines.  QNS does not actively monitor the Listserv for inappropriate postings, but members may email QNS leadership with concerns regarding a potential violation. QNS reserves the right to take all appropriate action in response to violations at our sole discretion, including the removal of content, restriction of Listserv access, or revocation of QNS membership.

To post to the listserv, please direct your content to: qnslistserv@googlegroups.com.  QNS is not responsible for the content of messages or posts on the Listserv, and those submitting messages bear sole responsibility and liability for the content of their postings.

QNS members agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless QNS, its committees and sections, its subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, and agents from and against all losses, claims, demands, causes of action, liabilities, expenses, including reasonable attorney’s fees and costs arising from any claims arising out of or resulting from any breach of these guidelines by the user or any omission or act taken by the user.  In no event shall QNS be liable for any special, indirect, or consequential damages or any damages whatsoever resulting from loss of use, data, or profits, arising out of or in connection with the use or performance of any information posted.

The Rules:

  • All defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials are strictly prohibited and will lead to immediate removal from the Listserv and revocation of QNS membership.

  • Do not post any information or other material protected by copyright without the permission of the copyright owner. It is permissible for members to post quotes, references, or weblinks to copyrighted works with appropriate citations, as needed.

  • Do not use the Listserv as a substitute for direct clinical supervision, consultation, or peer review.  While members are encouraged to use the Listserv for general consultation or professional advice, all members are responsible for independently verifying information elicited via the Listserv prior to use in clinical, research, educational, or other professional activities.

  • Discussions about rates charged, efforts to exert collective pressure on payors, terms of contracts with insurance companies, or internship salaries, even when there is no anti-competitive intent.

  • Do not harvest e-mails for spam or spam-like purposes, or for any type of "mass-mailing" and/or "bulk e-mail." Additionally, personal or contact information of list participants seen on this list is intended solely for the use of this list and should not be distributed to a third party.

  • If you endorse a company, service, or product and have a financial arrangement with the company, you must disclose that financial arrangement as part of your endorsement

  • Do not misrepresent yourself, or in any other way conceal your identity, or post anonymous messages.

Guidelines:

  • Please avoid ad hominem attacks against fellow Listserv members.

  • Use caution when discussing individuals or their specific services or products.  Information posted on the list is available for all QNS members to see, and individual posts may expose their authors to potential liability (e.g., defamation).

  • Please avoid messages that are not directly related to neuropsychology (services, providers, research, etc.), Queer brain/mental health, or relevant advocacy.  Don't post commercial messages or advertisements, as well as unrelated political messages, meetings, or products.

  • Please limit Listserv posts to those containing information potentially relevant to the entire group.  One-on-one conversations should be limited to alternative forms of communication (e.g., personal email accounts).

  • Include a signature or contact information on all messages.  This way, other members can reply to you individually rather than to the list, if they prefer.

  • State concisely and clearly the topic of your comments in the subject line.

  • When using an Auto Reply message for times you are out of the office, please be sure to "Create a Rule" (this is easily done with Microsoft Outlook’s Out of Office Assistant) that would prohibit sending the message to the list.

  • Include only the relevant portions of the original message in your reply, delete any header information, and put your response before the original posting.

These guidelines are subject to continual editing and updating, as needed. Changes will be announced on the Listserv and QNS website as they are made.  Comments related to these guidelines may be directed to the QNS Executive Committee.  To unsubscribe from the listserv, please email your request to queerneuropsychologicalsociety@gmail.com.
